About Vybar
Vybar™ is a polymer. A polymer is a high molecular weight organic compound,
natural or synthetic, whose structure can be represented by a repeated small
unit, the monomer (eg, polyethylene, rubber, cellulose). Synthetic
polymers are formed by addition or condensation polymerization of monomers.
Lliquid poly(alpha-olefins) in wax solutions or emulsions which when applied to
surfaces (such as by way of illustration and not of limitation vinyl, leather,
rubber, elastomers, natural and synthetic polymers, sealed and finished wood,
painted or enameled metal such as automobile finishes, etc.) are capable of
cleaning, preserving, renewing, restoring and improving the appearance, etc., so
as to yield a high gloss finish which is durable and has high resistance to
water and detergent wash-off.
Applications
The benefits that VYBAR 825 polymer provides in surface films have led to its
use in many commercial applications. In many instances VYBAR 825 polymer is used
in conjunction with, or instead of, silicone fluids. Its lack of volatility
compared to silicone fluids has led to its replacement of silicone fluids in
many applications.
Candle Wax
Increases hardness and surface gloss. Will help eliminate bubbles and
mottling. Gives candle colors a creamy more pastel appearance. Used
to "bind" fragrance oil and paraffin. Mel t wax 190 degrees and add 1 tablespoon
per 2 pounds of wax.
Polishes and Appearance Dressings
- When formulated into polish and dressing formulations, VYBAR 825 polymer
provides enhanced protection and improved appearance of a wide range of
materials such as leather, vinyl, wood, automotive
coatings, etc.
-Products containing VYBAR 825 polymer can also be used to clean,
preserve, restore and renew the surfaces of melamine, various elastomers, and
coated metal.
- VYBAR 825 polymer can significantly enhance gloss and durability when
formulated in automotive polishes.
-Blending VYBAR 825 polymer with dimethylpolysiloxanes yields furniture polishes
that provide higher gloss, superior cleaning action, higher resistance to water
spotting and increased durability.
- Formulating VYBAR 825 polymer into floor polishes provides an extremely
effective but low cost means to restore and beautify acrylic and other floor
surfaces. When the finished product is buffed after application, a tough and
resilient coat cover is achieved. This coat cover provides a slower, more slip
resistant film that has an outstanding gloss finish.
- Ski wax formulations containing VYBAR 825 polymer have been shown to be very
successful. Wax properties were controlled over a wide variety of snow
conditions.
- VYBAR 825 polymer has been shown to be an excellent ozone barrier in neoprene
rubber applications. Samples of neoprene rubber coated
with VYBAR 825 polymer showed no cracking or damage when exposed at 104˚F for 7
days to an atmosphere containing 50 ppm ozone
Inks and Coatings
- The excellent lubricating and plasticizing properties of VYBAR 825 polymer may
be exploited to secure enhanced performance from many inks and coatings. VYBAR
825 polymer modifies the slip and rub characteristics of many different types of
ink systems. Its use in lithographic inks promotes gloss and improves slip
characteristics. It can be added directly to the ink or be easily incorporated
in varnish vehicles.
- Numerous advantages have been secured by applying VYBAR 825 polymer to coil
coating formulations – these include stabilized flow
viscosity, improved leveling, better coverage, reduced number of surface
flaws (including separation), enhanced slip, and good thermal
stability. VYBAR 825 polymer is compatible with epoxy, polyester, acrylic and
silicone-polyester resins.
- The outstanding water resistance and tenacity of the film of VYBAR 825 polymer
allows it to be the performance ingredient in concrete coatings.
- Non-ionic emulsions of VYBAR 825 polymer have been found useful in providing
water-based OPV’s with improved rub and slip while producing a matte finish.
Plastics
- VYBAR 825 polymer can be used as an internal mold release agent and lubricant
for molded and pultruded catalyzed epoxy, polyester, and vinyl ester resins that
are reinforced with fiberglass, carbon, graphite, and various synthetic
filaments.
- VYBAR 825 polymer can be used as an internal or external mold release agent
for unsaturated polyester and epoxy based sheet molding compounds. It can also
be added internally for use as a die lubricant in pultrusion processes using
these resins. The fact that VYBAR 825 polymer is a liquid makes it much easier
to incorporate as an additive and negates the problem of “dusting” during
processing. Further, VYBAR 825 polymer has no adverse effect on the glass
